Individual Recognition For Youth Workers In N.Ireland With 15+ Years Experience
Posted on 07 June, 2021 News
Have you been a professional Youth Worker since before January 2006?
The North South Education and Training Standards Committee for Youth Work (NSETS) has approved a process so that those who do not hold Youth Work qualifications (and therefore do not hold an NSETS-endorsed award) but who have been continuously engaged in professional youth work practice for 15 years or more can apply for a statement of individual recognition.
This statement of individual recognition will act in the same way that programme-level recognition does for graduates of NSETS-endorsed awards, allowing them to apply for posts in an equitable manner.
Criteria for Eligibility:
In order to be eligible, individuals must have been in professional employment in youth work:
(a) prior to the establishment of NSETS in January 2006, and
(b) on a continuous basis since then.
Evidence Required
To be considered for NSETS Individual Recognition you must be able to provide evidence that you were in professional employment* in youth work:
- For at least two of the five years prior to 1 January 2006 (pre NSETS establishment), and
- For at least two of the five years prior to the date of application.
* Professional employment would here include, as well as face-to-face youth work practice, (i) management of such practice and (ii) education and training for such practice. In all cases employment should be at least 50% part-time.
