A big Thank You to Coca Cola!
Posted on 20 October, 2017 News
Start360's Change Makers project - part of the support delivered by our Switch Onto Employment service - has been awarded €5000 from the Coca Cola Thank You Fund.
The winning applications, eight of which were from organisations in Northern Ireland, were announced on 12 October at Zeminar, Ireland's largest youth conference.
The Change Makers project will give young people the skills to effect real change in their communities, through initiatives including random acts of kindness.
By giving young people the chance to become involved in their communities, they will become empowered to make positive life choices and become positive influencers. Change Makers will support communities to build strength and capacity to embrace diversity.
The project will consist of three phases:
Phase one is about learning together, developing skills and setting goals
Phase two is focused on identifying and carrying out activities in communities
Phase three will see the learning shared and promoted, and other people in communities encouraged to become change makers themselves
Tara, who is taking part in Change Makers, said, 'I'm dead proud that we got the money - our hard work paid off. Now I'm excited to start the project and make a difference.'
Start360 Assistant Manager, Ciara McAlinden, said, 'Giving back to their communities is of real importance to our service users and this project gives them the opportunity to do so in a more sustainable way. It's been great working with Coca Cola and the young people involved in the application loved the whole experience. We can't wait to get started!'
Michael, another Start360 Change Maker, said, 'I feel so happy and proud of what we've done. I feel more confident now and know I could do it again.'
Pete Snodden, Thank You Fund Ambassador, said 'I’ve loved being part of the Thank You Fund and getting to hear about all the fantastic youth groups and projects that will benefit from the fund. I’m so impressed by how forward thinking these projects are and can see the real impact they can bring. I wish them every success as they set out to achieve their goals.'
